Hey ,
Tomorrow is my birthday.
And whenever my birthday draws close, one scripture always comes to mind:
“Teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts to wisdom.”
That verse has become very personal to me over the years.
Because the older I get, the more I ask myself better questions.
Am I becoming wiser?
Am I acting better than I used to?
Am I responding differently to situations?
Am I making better decisions?
I constantly check myself.
I check my actions.
I check my patterns.
I check my responses.
And I ask one simple but honest question:
How can I do better?
Because there is really no point celebrating a birthday if you are not growing in wisdom.
There is no point adding years if nothing is changing internally.
There is no point counting age if your thinking, habits, and character are stagnant.
Yes, birthdays are for gratitude.
Yes, they are for thanking God.
Yes, they are for celebration.
But they should also be moments of reflection.
What did I do wrong this past year?
What could I have handled better?
What did I do right that I should continue?
What habits need to stop?
What areas need improvement?
These are questions I sit with seriously.
How can I talk better?
How can I treat people better?
How can I grow emotionally?
How can I grow financially?
How can I steward opportunities better?
How can I live more intentionally?
I don’t ask these questions to condemn myself.
I ask them to align myself.
Wisdom doesn’t just happen with age.
Wisdom is intentional.
It comes from reflection.
It comes from correction.
It comes from honesty.
It comes from humility.
So as I approach another year of life, this is my prayer for myself and for you:
That we don’t just grow older.
But that we grow wiser.
That we don’t just celebrate days.
But that we number them.
That we apply our hearts to wisdom in how we live, how we speak, how we love, and how we decide.
Because life is too meaningful to be lived casually.
Your Fave,
Darasimi
