Hey ,
A few days ago, I went to visit my uncle and I’m still currently with him and his family as I write this.
Over the past few days, I’ve been exposed again to certain conversations that reminded me how much environment matters.
Both my uncle and his wife work in the finance world, so naturally, many of their conversations revolve around business, finance, investments, numbers, opportunities, and all those kinds of things.
But what struck me was not just the conversations themselves.
It was the scale of the conversations.
The figures they casually mention when discussing work genuinely stretch your thinking. You hear billions being discussed casually and it expands your mind. It changes what feels possible. It shifts your internal reality.
And while listening to them, something became very clear to me again:
What you are exposed to matters a lot.
The conversations around you matter.
The environment around you matters.
The people around you matter.
Because exposure shapes thinking.
Sometimes people think growth only comes from motivation or hard work. But one thing that quietly shapes people is exposure. Exposure changes your imagination. It changes what you think is possible. It changes the standards you subconsciously begin to build for your life.
Now, I also want to balance this properly because not everybody has the privilege of immediately changing their physical environment.
Not everybody can suddenly relocate.
Not everybody can suddenly move into a different class of society.
Not everybody can physically leave their current environment immediately.
And that is okay.
But even if your physical environment has not changed yet, you can still intentionally expose yourself to better realities.
Through books.
Through podcasts.
Through mentors.
Through your circle of friends.
Through the internet.
Through healthy conversations.
You can intentionally expose yourself to people who think differently, people who challenge your mindset, people who stretch your imagination.
This is why your circle matters so much.
If the only conversations around you are gossip, complaints, and survival, eventually your thinking becomes limited to that level.
But when you are around people discussing ideas, growth, structure, investments, opportunities, leadership, purpose, systems, and vision, something in you begins to expand.
Personally, I realized that part of what shaped me financially growing up was exposure.
Being around certain conversations. Hearing certain figures. Seeing certain realities. Watching how people think and approach life differently.
It planted a consciousness in me early.
And that consciousness has helped me greatly as an adult.
So today, I want you to ask yourself honestly:
“What am I constantly exposed to?”
Because whether you realize it or not, your environment is shaping you daily.
Protect your environment.
Protect your mind.
Protect your conversations.
Protect your circle.
Because eventually, the things you are consistently exposed to begin to shape the life you build.
Your Fave,
Darasimi
