You’ll grow so much that “the old you” will feel strange

Growth doesn’t always look big until you look back.

Hey ,

Growth is funny especially when you look back.

Since I moved into my apartment, I never painted the walls. I just kept the colour that was there, a soft peach. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t what I wanted.

A few days ago, I decided to repaint. I started downstairs and went for white. Clean. Fresh. Simple.

Now that I’ve done it, I honestly can’t understand how I lived with that peach colour for this long.

And that’s how growth works.

You don’t always see how much you’ve outgrown something until you change it.

A habit.

A mindset.

A relationship.

A system.

Even the environment you’ve gotten used to.

When you finally step into something new, you realize how much you’ve evolved and how much comfort had been holding you back.

Before 2019, I can’t even remember what exact plan I had for my life. But everything changed that year.

Looking back now, I laugh and ask myself, “What was even my plan??”

That’s the thing about growth. You can grow so much that even people who once knew you will find it hard to imagine you were ever that small.

Like those aunties and uncles who say, “Ah, that small boy of yesterday!”

Or when you look at your younger cousins and think, “Wow… how time flies.”

Growth sneaks up on you. It’s quiet, gradual, and sometimes uncomfortable. But it’s worth it.

It takes consistency.

It takes diligence.

It takes deciding to repaint the walls of your life, literally or figuratively, when you know it’s time.

So here’s my question to you today:

What’s the “peach wall” in your life that you’ve gotten too comfortable with?

Maybe it’s time to repaint.
