, Happy Boxing Day 🎁
Today is Law 12 in this series.
And since it’s Boxing Day, I want to talk about something very simple, but very powerful:
Learn to acknowledge people through gifts.
Somehow, our generation is slowly losing the art of gifting.
We show appreciation with words.
We say “Thank you.”
We say “God bless you.”
But we rarely go a step further.
Gifting is not just about money.
It’s about intention.
It could be funds.
It could be a small item.
It could be a thoughtful gesture.
It could be effort.
What matters is that you did something tangible.
I’ve noticed that many people only give gifts on special occasions when it feels “required.” Or they only give when the person is a leader, a pastor, or someone they highly revere.
But when it comes to friends, family, people on their level, people who consistently show up for them, they stop trying.
Familiarity takes over.
And appreciation disappears.
That’s a mistake.
When someone helps you.
When someone stands by you.
When someone supports you.
When someone shows up for you.
When someone has been consistent in your life.
Learn to acknowledge them.
Especially on birthdays.
Especially during visits.
Especially during milestones.
Especially when you’re reminded of their value.
You don’t have to wait till you’re rich.
You don’t have to give something expensive.
What matters is thoughtfulness, not price.
Even the smallest gift says:
“I see you.”
“I remember you.”
“I value you.”
And here’s something important:
Gifting is also a form of honor.
It communicates respect.
It communicates gratitude.
It communicates maturity.
As we enter 2026, I really believe we need to do better here.
Be more appreciative.
Be more intentional.
Be more thoughtful.
Don’t only receive.
Learn to give.
Not just to leaders.
Not just to people above you.
But to friends.
To family.
To people who matter.
To people who have poured into you.
Today being Boxing Day is a good reminder:
Give something.
Give someone something.
Let people feel seen and appreciated.
That is Law 12.
Talk tomorrow.
Your Fave,
Darasimi.
