Stop trying to enter rooms and start building roots

Real growth is collective, not lonely

Hey,

There’s something I really believe in.

Not from a book. Not from a quote.

From real life.

Grow with your people.

Our generation is obsessed with “next level” friendships. Bigger rooms. Bigger names. Bigger tables. And yes, it’s good to want growth. It’s good to want exposure. It’s good to want better.

But what I don’t agree with is abandoning your people just because you think you’ve outgrown them.

If the people around you want to grow.

If they are intentional.

If they are trying.

If they care about becoming better.

Why leave them?

Growth is not only about changing circles.

Sometimes, it’s about upgrading together.

There’s this popular advice:

“If you’re the smartest person in the room, change the room.”

I don’t fully believe that.

Someone has to be first in every group.

Someone has to light the fire first.

Someone has to be the example before the ripple spreads.

Being the most aware in your circle doesn’t mean you should abandon it.

Sometimes it means you’re supposed to influence it.

When I started my personal growth journey around 2020, I didn’t disappear on my people. I didn’t go off alone. The first person I carried with me was my partner, Ideraoluwa. Then I carried others. I wanted them to grow with me.

Not because it was easy.

But because they mattered to me.

I have friends who are faster than me.

I have friends who are still finding their feet.

It doesn’t matter.

What matters is that we’re not growing in different directions.

We’re moving forward together.

Now, let me be clear.

If the people around you are comfortable being stagnant, don’t want better, mock growth, hate discipline, hate progress, then yes, protect your future.

But if your people are trying?

Trying to learn.

Trying to build.

Trying to change?

Grow with them.

Don’t become so obsessed with entering “elite” rooms that you forget the people who walked with you when the room was empty.

True leadership is not leaving your people behind.

It’s raising the temperature, so everyone rises with you.

So, I’ll ask you this today:

Are you trying to escape your people…

Or are you trying to evolve with them?

Choose wisely.
