OK, {{contact.first_name}}, can I guess?

Well, , can I guess?

First, let me guess what it’s not.

It’s not stacking 12 bowls on your while riding a unicycle in the middle of a basketball court during halftime of the NBA finals.

Oh!  I have another guess.

It’s not creating an entire song including all instrument noises and vocals using only your mouth.

OK, give me one more shot.

It’s not chopping into and climbing a tree stump so you can shop off the top of it.

If you’re like me, the thought of being that good at anything blows your mind.  They exhibit (in very odd ways) extreme greatness.

It’s easy to look at them and assume that you could never do something like them.  Almost like they are another species.

But here’s the thing - they’re not!

Don’t put the person on a pedestal, instead admire the determination and practice it took to get to that level.  It’s OK to be in awe of the skill.  But don’t count yourself out.  Admire their greatness, but realize that you are human like they are.

Keep this in mind with the Olympics coming up.  Learn from the effort, focus and commitment.

You are also capable of greatness!

Your homework this week:  At what skill do you want to be world class?  What does it take to get there, and are you willing to do that?  What can you be great at?

Unless you don’t want to be great.  In that case, fuck it.  Veg out on the couch and get Cheeto fingerprints all over your sweatpants while watching people condense 10 years of training into a 10 second footrace.  That’s cool too.

Be great (unless you don’t give a shit),

Danny Lehr

P.S.  At what skill do you want to be great?
