I spent five years wrangling hoses and hauling gear, while Mr. Bloom clocked in a whole decade of service, including training all of our small town members to meet Red Cross First Responder status (yep, my man is the real deal!).

While Nick and Sophie are 100% fictional, let’s just say a few of their more memorable—and one steamy—moments were inspired by my time on the front lines. Consider it my way of bringing a little extra authenticity (and heat!) to your reading experience.
