This particular model was just spotted out doing some serious testing and spy photographers caught up with it. Other clues giving the identity of the tech under the sheet metal away include the flush door handles and the blocked out kidney grilles.
The former BMW M CEO, Markus Flasch, said that the company is working on a bespoke, standalone model for the most dedicated fans out there and this is going to be it. As you can see from these latest spyshots, it will definitely come with a unique design.
Both are performance cars at heart, but other than that, the BMW M5 and Shelby Mustang GT500 couldn't be any different.

They are to Germany what the Commodore and Falcon were to Aussies: large rear-drive sedans that once dominated the market before SUVs ruled the world. Is there still a place for this pair?
Rumors of an M3 Touring straight from the factory have been swirling around the Internet for years, but it was only a little over a year ago when BMW confirmed plans to finally launch the high-performance version. YouTuber Joe Achilles is in an interesting position when it comes to testing many cars, as he personally owns a G80 BMW M3 Competition. So when he tests the new M3 Competition xDrive, his opinion is more intriguing than most because he drives and lives with the standard rear-wheel drive car on a regular basis.

It apparently won't be the only type of propulsion driving the wheels, as the German magazine claims the V8 will form a plug-in hybrid powertrain with an electric motor.
For the second time this year, BMW CEO Oliver Zipse took a public dig at Tesla, singling out quality and reliability as issues that he said set the Germany luxury automaker apart from the electric car leader.
Fully autonomous driving and ever more advanced driver assistance technologies are likely to impact day to day transportation to a great degree each year. According to Frank Weber, BMW Director of Development, we can expect Level 3 automated driving to be featured in the 2023 7 Series.
