🌸 A fresh start for your creativity
Mar 26, 2026 1:01 pm
Hi ,
“There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature—the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after winter.” — Rachel Carson
Spring has arrived in Vancouver. The cherry blossoms are out, and the weather whipsaws between beautiful days and drenching rain. There is something comforting about the change in seasons. It reminds us that change is inevitable. Creativity is the same. There will be times when the words flow, and others when things feel dormant. Sometimes ideas are everywhere, and other times it feels like your muse has disappeared entirely. The key is remembering that nothing is permanent—and to find a way to appreciate each stage of the process.
🌱 Put Some Spring Into Your Creativity
If you’re ready to re-energize your writing this month, we’ve got you covered.
✍️ Workshop Wednesdays
April 1 — Story Structure Options with Eileen
You may have heard of story structure models like Save the Cat, the Hero’s Journey, or the 7-Point Plot Structure—but what other structural choices are available? Should your story be linear or move across timelines? Told through multiple POVs or shaped by seasons?
This workshop explores different ways to structure your story and what to consider when choosing the right approach.
April 8 — Deep Dive with Jenny
A chance to dig deeper into story structure concepts. Bring your questions, ideas, and anything you want to workshop further.
April 15 — Blue Pencil with Bonnie
Submit up to 750 words of your manuscript, query letter, or synopsis for peer feedback.
April 22 — Spring Social with Eileen
Bring your tea, coffee, or beverage of choice and join us for a casual catch-up. We’ll chat about writing, upcoming plans, and anything great you’ve been reading.
April 29 — Mind Mapping with Jacqui
Brainstorm with the hive mind. Whether it’s plot, characters, or marketing ideas, this session is designed to spark new directions and possibilities.

12 WEEK YEAR WITH BONNIE
Saturday, April 11
One of our most popular events returns. This session focuses on planning in 12-week cycles rather than overwhelming year-long goals. With shorter timelines, it becomes easier to adapt, stay focused, and make meaningful progress.
FORUMS, GENRE MEET-UPS & ACCOUNTABILITY GROUPS
There’s plenty happening in the calendar. Be sure to check the schedule for regular meet-ups and weekly accountability groups. Join the communities (listed on the left side of the main page) to receive event notifications.
