Spring is coming ,

"Spring is the time of plans and projects.” - Tolstoy

March is the official start to spring, although for many of us it doesn’t feel like it outside quite yet. March is about hope. There are small hints that things may be changing, the start of buds on trees, less snow, and a slight hint of light in the sky in the mornings instead of waking up in pitch darkness. But there are also challenges. The ground is often still frozen, there seems to be more mud than blooms, and everyone seems to have the sniffles, or a cough from various colds going around. It can be hard to hang onto hope- but spring is coming. Even on the days when it doesn’t feel like it. 

Having a creative life is like that. There are moments when all you see is the mud. We’re here to remind you that spring is coming. Keep planting those seeds. Keep making plans, keep writing those projects.

Workshop Wednesdays

March 5th: How to Use Feedback with Eileen: We know feedback is important, but how do you move from feedback to revision? Come and learn how to make sense of the notes you get from others and move forward with your manuscript.

March 12th: Deeper Dive with Jenny: Jenny will lead a discussion on the How to Use Feedback presentation and provide chances for people to look at how they can apply it to their own writing practice. 

March 19th: Mind Mapping with Jacqui: Want an opportunity to brainstorm? Toss around ideas with other writers and be a part of that creative spark.

March 26th: Blue Pencil with Jenny: Here is your chance to get some feedback of up to 750 words reviewed with the group and get some feedback. 

Events:

NEW WRITERS: Are you a new writer, want to build up some craft skills, or just new to the Academy and looking for some friends, join us at our New Writers Meet-up the First and Third Tuesdays of the month at 5pm PT. Our first meeting will be March 4. The first Tuesdays will be a topic discussion. The third Tuesday of the month will be open mic night. All genres welcome. All members (even published) welcome. Our first meeting will be a get to know you, topic brainstorming for future meetings, and a How to get Started writing discussion.

ATTIC JOURNAL: First Wednesday at 12pm PDT. Our first meeting will be March 5, and we will be discussing JANUARY'S Attic Journal experiences.

WRITING CRAFT BOOK CLUB: Our first book will be Create Story Conflict by Eileen Cook. We will meet bi-monthly, typically on the 5th Wednesday at 1:00pm PDT. Please join us even if you haven't read the book but if you want to check it out, grab copy here: https://www.amazon.com/Create-Story-Conflict-increase-Creative/dp/1777291909/.
