🥳 Let's focus on joy this January

Hey ,

"You may have a fresh start any moment you choose, for this thing we call “failure” is not the falling down, but the staying down.”  Mary Pickford

There is something about a new year that is both thrilling and intimidating. There is so much promise, but also fear over what could go wrong. It’s like a new book idea, perfect when it is in your head, but there’s the worry that when you try and capture it on the page it will fall short. But here’s the thing- it will fall short. That’s the process of creation. It’s messy and imperfect. But until you start you can’t make it better. And you can’t share it.

This year our challenge to you is to be messy and imperfect. But to do the thing! Decide that you will seize this year, not to hit any fancy word target or measure of success, but that you will believe in yourself and put your energy toward what gives you joy.

And we will be with you every step of the way.

Let’s Get Started:

NYT Bestselling author Elizabeth Boyle will be doing a workshop on getting started on January 18th. This is perfect for those wanting to start a new project (or find a way to jump start a spark for a project that may need it.)  You will need to register for this workshop so don’t miss the opportunity to have a small group session with this amazing teacher. Elizabeth is the perfect blend of practical suggestions, tough love and tender encouragement.  https://creativeacademyforwriters.com/lets-get-started/

 Workshop Wednesdays/Events:

  • January 4th: The 12 Week Year with Bonnie Jacoby. Need to jump start your plans for the new year? Bonnie will be walking people through their wins in 204 and helping them set their intentions for the first three months of the year.
  • January 8th: Q&A with Erryn Barratt/Gabbi Grey - What hybrid authors get right (and wrong) This event is rescheduled from December. If you’re curious to get a behind the scenes peek into one author’s journey (both indie and traditional) come and be a part of this discussion.
  • January 8th: Workshop Wednesday with Eileen Writing Habits. Come and discuss some of the options to get you writing in 2025.
  • Be sure to check the schedule for all the regularly scheduled genre meet-ups and accountability groups.

Reminder: We also have a Facebook Group page with  topics from Writing Prompt Wednesday to First Line Fridays and Sharing Success Saturdays.  You’re welcome to join and have a chance to chat there as well as in our forums.
