Community and Self-Care

Calm Connections

Hello Friends;

It is a great day in Kansas where the weather is warmer than usual but quite nice. We have even been able to enjoy a few mugs of tea outside!

This week we have noticed an uptick in fellow caregivers and writers that are part of our circle and the circles we play in reaching out to the communities for support. We see this as good news.

Caregiving can feel overwhelming and isolating but the ability to see past those emotions and lean into a community is a sign of resilience and a strong community. We are stronger together for our loved ones and ourselves. If you are feeling low, call or Zoom with a friend. Connect.

Self-care doesn’t require hard work. In fact we have found that the simpler we make self-care the easier it actually is. Those of us multitasking as caregivers and entrepreneurs have options, especially if we expand our idea of time. We have been guilty of saying “We don’t have time to write.” This is why both of us joined virtual write-in groups.

We are basically using these groups to foster our self-care, fill our cups, and build our business at the same time.

In fact many of the poems coming out in Delaina’s upcoming poetry book The Wild Song We Sing, were written while attending her write-in community. And don’t get her started on the self-care benefits of reading poetry, you won’t get her to stop. LOL.

But as long as we are on the subject of poetry…. The Wild Song We Sing has matured into a life of its own, expanding beyond the art of poetry to include the art of photography and even music. Delaina’s special handpan song, titled the same as the book, unites the energy of the art and heart of the book. Join our special VIP early bird email list
here, and be one of the first to get sneak peaks, tidbits and hear about the book’s release.

In love, light, and self-care,
Delaina and Kristin
