The apps on your smart phone

Hi ,

Part of having a CEO Mindset is to make securing your finances a number one priority. There's two parts to that task:

  • Earning adequate money to pay for your lifestyle now and when you retire.
  • Keeping your finances secure and private.

In my last email I wrote about my growing concerns regarding data privacy. Yesterday I happened to browse another article and ended up reading this:

"The amount of information these companies have about each one of us is nearly limitless. They know our name, where we live, what we buy, where we eat, where we go, who we associate with, what we charge, our doctors, driving habits, diet preferences, race, religion, party registration, our friends and relatives, date of birth, pets, hobbies, height, weight, and all of the devices we use."

Bill and I took the step a few years ago of setting up a secure email address for each of us through Proton Mail. While we still have our gmail accounts and use them we never use them anymore for anything financial or medical.

We've watched Proton Mail (that's my affiliate link) grow over the past year to start including shortened email addresses and a drive that will one day be like Google drive. They also have a VPN (Virtual Private Network) which I believe it is wise to use, especially if you are in a hotel or on another public internet access. We ALWAYS use a VPN when we are on the road.

Besides data mining we are more and more concerned about security breaches. It seems 5 or 6 times a year we get notified that "our data might have been shared" with really nothing being done about it other than offering us a year of a free online security system.

Keep your business and your money safe, is my number one rule. You can read more here or take a look at Proton's services and see if it's smart for you.

To your sweet success,

Sue Painter
