My first try at Clubhouse
Jan 22, 2021 9:51 pm
Hi there,
I've been watching Clubhouse for a week or two, listening in here or there. So far I haven't been wildly impressed, but like anything else new in business it takes time to develop.
My friend Andrea Cinnamond said, "Why don't we open a room, and see who shows up?" So we tried that yesterday. And only one person showed up (hahahahaha) but that's OK because, guess what, we TRIED. We put it out there and will learn more how to maneuver and decide whether Clubhouse is for us.
Here's what I think so far. But first of all, if you are on Clubhouse, please follow me (suepainter) and I will notice that and follow you back.
- Clubhouse is in the moment. Meaning, there's conversations going on all the time over there (it can be totally ridiculous). There are no recordings. It's all audio (no video, which to some is a huge relief).
- Some of the "rooms" have like thousands in them. I'm looking for the smaller groups of 20 or so because I want to connect with knowledgable and interesting people. I don't want to be in an auditorium.
- There's a lot of bull roar in there - rooms with names like "make a zillion dollars in 30 minutes" and so forth. Some of the guys in there (and a few women) are in there 24/7 - how could they possibly be running a business?
If you are on Clubhouse and decide to pre-schedule a room the app will generate an invitation that you can share elsewhere. Here's what our invitation looked like for yesterday's event.
If you're not a Clubhouse member yet but have been wanting in I've got I think 2 invitations right now. I will need your iPhone phone number (you join by phone number and it's only available to iPhone users at present.)
I can't tell yet if spending time on Clubhouse will be worth it. I'm going to experiment with it more over the coming month or so, and I'll keep you posted.
To your sweet success,
Sue Painter
PS! If you're on CH and haven't followed either of us, please do so! We will follow you back, as well.
