Bring a pencil and some paper and join a community of writers. Use the time to work on a project or join in on the prompts and games provided. The group meets every Monday night at 6:00 pm in the library history room.

Whether you are an old pro or new to the game, players of all ages and skill levels are invited to the Library for Casual Chess. It’s a casual environment in which to learn the game or play a pick-up game with others. The library has several chess sets available to use, or feel free to bring your own.

At the end of the summer, we like to celebrate by taking our story time outside! For 5 weeks in August, join us at Central Gardens of North Iowa for story time on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. If the weather is rainy, we’ll have it inside the pavilion. Storytime will not be held at the library these weeks.

Since starting our 1000 Books Before Kindergarten (1KBBK) program in 2020, over a dozen children have completed the program! The library is excited to celebrate this accomplishment by hosting the first ever 1KBBK graduation to honor these participants and encourage more families to register. Invitations for graduates to be recognized will be sent in July. Family and friends are welcome to attend, as well as others interested in learning more about setting their child(ren) up for success by reading 1000 Books Before Kindergarten.
