Whether you are new to Mahjongg or have been playing for years, head to the library on Monday afternoons from 3:00-5:00 p.m. to play. The group meets in Study Room C with overflow into the sun room. If you have a set, feel free to bring that with so multiple games can get going.
Monday, July 20th at 6:00 pm
Bring a pencil and some paper (or grab your laptop) and join a community of writers. Use the time to work on a project or join in on the prompts and games provided. The group meets from 6:00 - 7:00 pm on Monday nights whenever the library is open.

Get ready for the CORNiest magic show in the Midwest. This 40-45 minute show contains tricks with flowers, plants and other farm-related things. Along with great magic, this show provides a lot of audience participation, corny humor and routines that promote books, reading and using the library. All ages welcome!

Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte: a wild, passionate story of the intense and almost demonic love between Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff, a foundling adopted by Catherine's father. After Mr Earnshaw's death, Heathcliff is bullied and humiliated by Catherine's brother Hindley and wrongly believing that his love for Catherine is not reciprocated, leaves Wuthering Heights, only to return years later as a wealthy and polished man. He proceeds to exact a terrible revenge for his former miseries. The action of the story is chaotic and unremittingly violent, but the accomplished handling of a complex structure, the evocative descriptions of the lonely moorland setting and the poetic grandeur of vision combine to make this unique novel a masterpiece of English literature.

Grab some old clothes you don't mind getting dirty and join us in the meeting room for Messy Art! All ages, toddler to adult, are invited to spend some time creating their own masterpieces. Crafts will fit the Summer Reading theme of Plant a Seed. Read. Some paint shirts in select sizes are available to borrow. Drop in event.

Join us each Wednesday, Memorial Day - Labor Day at 10:30 a.m. for a family story time for ages 0-5. Story time consists of stories, body movement activities, songs, and rhymes, helping children grow the skills they need to become lifelong readers. After the stories, feel free to stay and play and make new friends! Young children and their grown-ups are invited to join us for these free weekly events.
After Labor Day, story time is split into designated age groups throughout the week. Look for that information in August.

Get up close and personal with butterflies in one of three butterfly tents! Each guest will receive a butterfly flower feeder for a hands-free experience. Plus, discover fascinating facts about butterflies at the interactive education tables provided by Absolute Science.

The Nature of Natives
Join Heather Hucka, Conservation Education Manager for Cerro Gordo County Conservation, in an in-depth conversation about how your yard impacts the world. Come and discover why our native plants are so important and understand the effect non-natives have on the environment. Let's heal our world, one yard at a time!
