Opportunities For Voracious Book Dragons 🐲
May 25, 2022 3:01 pm
Have you ever taken a road trip across the country (or across the continent if you live in a smaller locale) and planned your entire journey—route, hotels, camping, attractions, you name it—all in one single month? 😶
Yeah . . . pretty sure I should have started figuring this stuff out earlier. But I had a series to finish, you know? Creative business must come before pleasure.
Hit me up with your MUST-SEES in Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana. Those are the 3 states where my husband and I will spend the most time during our adventure. Yellowstone and Glacier are on our list already. Know of any other sites we definitely need to check out? 🤩
✨ Calling All Book Dragons! ✨
If you've checked out my books on the various retailers, you've probably noticed that none of them have gotten very many reviews yet. Pretty sure my freebie, Arcane Gateway, is sitting at 26 ratings on the Zon—not quite enough for the algorithmic gremlins to start recommending it automatically. 🤖 -sigh-
Now that you're here on my VIP reader group, I think it's about time we work together to give my soon-to-be-complete series a needed boost. Early next week, I'll be offering advanced copies of Numinous Fortune for awesome readers who'd like to help it make a SPLASH on release week!
If you're interested in reading a FREE copy of the final book in Swanie's saga before it releases to the public on June 10th, please fill out & submit the form linked below. My ARC team currently stands at only 2 readers. Let's see if we can get that into the double digits. 💖
Searching For Magical Tomes ~ Snippet
One of Swanie's biggest goals in Numinous Fortune is to find a way to sever the mystic bond that draws her toward a traitorous Prince. She and Augustin take several excursions in spirit form to sort through collections of ancient books . . . and they find a little more than they bargained for. 👀
******************
In his absence, I observed the landscape below in its entirety. The primary building contained a large chapel with several wings surrounding it, one of which I could tell belonged to the kitchen, due to the scent of baking bread rising from a chimney. There appeared to be at least one smaller chapel, dormitories, a library, and a separate bath house, stable, and barn. Vegetable gardens ringed the edifice, and I saw small crops of grains some distance below the peak, before the tree line. Several gravestones dotted a meadow around the well.
I noticed several people at work amongst the grain, and plainsong rose from the chapel below. Tangible peace seeped into my spirit while I waited for Augustin to give the all-clear, and I smiled as I allowed my element to brush each soul upon the mountain. Aside from my husband, three others harbored Teutonic magic. Earth, smoke, and water.
Suddenly, Augustin emerged beside me, a worn tome with golden letters stamped upon its cover tucked beneath his left arm, his ghostly face paler than I had ever seen it. Holding his right hand out to me, he projected restless thoughts into my mind. Come. We must go.
I frowned, hesitant, for I wanted to explore the abbey in its entirety. Did you have a run-in with one of the Teutons or something?
Swanhilde, we must go. Now. Augustin’s tone demanded no objections. He snagged my hand in the next instant and sent our spirits back to his cottage.
When I opened my mortal eyes, my element contracting itself back into my blood, I blinked at Augustin. Hints of smoke rose from his robe as his fire confined itself to his irises, his expression severe, his gaze traveling from my face to the couch, where he had laid the tome. Following his example, I looked at the volume myself. It was not particularly large, two golden embossed leather straps sealing it shut. Its title read “Teutonic Cities” in Latin, which hinted that we might have finally hit the jackpot.
Returning my gaze to Augustin’s, I detected what could have been a muted terror clinging to his countenance. “Why did we have to get out of there so fast?” I whispered, fearing he had stolen the volume.
Augustin stared into my eyes in silence for a long moment, as though trying to decide just how much to reveal. At length he exhaled heavily through his nostrils and said, “One of the chroniclers in the library recognized me.”
I did a double-take. “That doesn’t happen all that often, right?” Augustin had been cursed—and dead—for nearly three decades now. The Teuton community at large had long since forgotten him.
Ancient Libraries
Here's a picture I took a few years ago in the Admont Abbey library in Austria. Think there might be some magical tomes hidden on this shelf? 🤔
That winged skeleton implies a touch of darkness, I'd say.
Great deals on your favorite reads!
Got some fresh finds for penny-pinching lovers of paranormal romance and fantasy! Many are available on all retailers while others can be found on KU. Two of my own books are lurking among their peers. Check it out! 😍
Last Chance For A 99¢ Box Set
If you're on a budget and you haven't snagged the eBook box set of the first 3 books in my His Name Was Augustin series, you'd better grab it before the price goes up on June 1st. I'm not sure when I'll run another sale on this particular collection; it might not happen until I get a BookBub on it.
As a creative entrepreneur, selling 3 books for less than a dollar is NOT sustainable long-term. In fact, if you're not in dire financial straits and don't mind giving my royalties a wondrous jolt, the box set will be $8.99 starting in June. 💰
I'd better get going since I have a road trip to frantically plan. 🚗 Did you miss the sign up sheet for my ARC team? Here's the link one more time:
