In One Day, The Truth Comes Out 👀

Happy Friday to you and all of C.L. Carhart's readers! Gift of Fire comes out on all online retailers tomorrow, and the author asked me to offer my take on my sister's love story. Honestly, I haven't followed Gabi's romance like a good brother should, since I've been busy with my studies. Premed is a bumpy ride, especially once you get into subjects like cell biology and organic chemistry.
I thought it'd be fun to become a doctor and help people. Unfortunately, it seems you have to learn how to break humans down into tiny components, first! 😉
Siblings Reunited
I'm Dennis Scholz, Gabi's younger brother. My sister and I were best buddies when we were kids, but then she ran off to the Black Forest and didn't come out for nearly 10 years. Now that she's finally back home in Erlangen, we're working on rebuilding our relationship. But there are some things Gabi doesn't know about me, things I'm not sure I'm ready to tell her.
Have you ever felt sure that if your family and friends learned the truth about you, they might completely turn their backs? Tell you to get on with your life all by yourself while they get on with theirs?
Yeah. Pretty sure I'm going to keep my secrets close for now. The silver oak fairy in my backyard knows I've been messing around with some dark stuff, and it's never deigned to acknowledge me. Guess my plans to help people as a doctor aren't good enough to redeem me, in the fairy's opinion.
Oh well, I still put my elemental magic to good use sometimes. Like at the New Year's festival, when a horrible young priest tried to bind Gabi's heart. She was drunk. You can't force a girl into a heart-bond if she's drunk.
My molten rock came in handy that night, because I made the priest back down. Dragged him before the Keyholder so he could get chewed out. That was an awesome moment, since his dad's on the city council. If that man can't keep his son in check, well, the rest of us will do it for him. 🌋
C.L. Carhart just showed me some pictures from her summer vacation to Craters of the Moon in Idaho. Pretty sure I might need to visit that park someday. So much lava rock everywhere! Maybe my element could awaken the dormant volcano. If I pay close enough attention, my element gives me hints about what the magma's doing beneath the earth's surface.
