Mystical Stories, Holidays, And Wanderings 🌳
Jul 04, 2025 3:01 pm
Yep, here I go emailing you on 4th of July 🧨, so happy Independence Day to those who celebrate! (And a belated happy Canada Day to those in the north.) I'm actually hiking through the mountains of western North Carolina right now, but luckily the cyber gremlins let me schedule emails in advance. So how about we check out some bookish events happening this weekend?
One of my fellow authors, Hayley, is running a charity event from today through July 7th. eBooks in a wide variety of genres await your attention, along with an anthology supporting Brain Tumour Research UK.
Hayley is hosting this event in honor of her cousin, who found support from that charity during his years-long battle with glioblastoma. There's a link to donate directly to the charity on the main page of this event, if you feel so inclined. Be sure to check out all the books available, because some of them are new-to-me (and therefore might be new-to-you 🤩).
For the romantasy readers, we've got a one-day event showcasing over 50 FREE romantasy reads. Some of them might be books you've already read, while others might be portals to realms you've yet to encounter. Take a look!
What About Those Cats?
It's been a minute since I've shared a cat pic with you, and I'll admit that's partly because I don't use a smartphone (😱) and therefore am not inclined to snap photos every second of my boring daily life. Any photos I share are either products of my cheapo digital camera, or they're from my husband's iPad. Usually I tend to take 'landscape' photos rather than 'portrait' photos...because for real, WHO is staring up at the sky and down at their feet all the time, anyway? Why are we now forced to look at scenery through a keyhole just because almost everyone uses a smartphone?
Yep, I needed to get that rant off my chest. 😅
Don't forget, C.L. Carhart is your weirdo creative, so pardon me while I disappear into the forest with my cheapo digital camera. 📷
In the meantime, here's Thunar, who'd much rather spend his old age curled into a ball than deal with the two wild 'kiddos' who inhabit his abode.
Maybe in my next newsletter I'll share some updated photos of those kiddos—Panther and Mango. Or maybe I'll share some pictures from my hiking adventure that I'm currently undertaking (more likely). 🌳 Which would you rather see? Kitties or mountain views? How about both?
Send me a reply and let me know. 💖

Other Books You Might Like
I've got two intriguing books for you to add to your TBR today. One is a reverse harem about dark fae—free with newsletter signup. And the other is a boxed set of tales about mythical goddesses—this one's available on multiple retailers.
One week ago, I saw the future, and it was filled with fire and ruin.
Worst of all, I forsaw the death of the most powerful male in Caladrius.
A terrible prophecy that changed the course of my life, and endangered the men I love. They've sworn to protect me, but in this wicked realm, such promises are doomed to be broken. Now we're playing a dangerous game with the ruthless Fae King, who keeps me prisoner in his palace, using me to chart the course of his unending war against his brother.
As our enemies close in from all sides, one mistake is all it takes to put us in danger and send us on the run. But there is no cheating fate, and even the greatest sacrifice of all won't save us from what destiny has planned.
History didn’t always give them a happily-ever-after… it’s time to change that.
Love For All Seasons (Hecate and Hermes with Persephone and Hades)
A story about how Persephone and Hades REALLY met…
Medusa’s Secret (Medusa and Perseus)
In Ancient Greece, sometimes death is only the beginning.
Athena’s Challenge (Athena and Tiresias)
One is hiding their identity; the other is trying to understand theirs.
Web Of Lies (Arachne and Morpheus)
Controlling her curse just might be the easiest thing about their relationship…
I'd better let you get reading and enjoying the weird weekend heading your way. I'll send you another message once I've made my way out of the Appalachian forests. 😁 Don't forget to let me know whether you want to see pictures from that adventure, or cat pictures first!
Talk to you soon,
C.L. Carhart
