Character Bio: Haru

Back from the NATL Comic Con in Hutchinson, KS and I had a blast! Looking forward to finding more in person events to attend. If you have any recommendations, let me know!

Before we get into the Character Bio of the week, I want to say a huge Thank You to all who stopped by and talked! I enjoyed it immensely.

Now--

Character Bio - Haru

Introduced: Ranger of Kings

Included In: Ranger of Kings, The Cutthroat Prince, The Fallen Heir, Rogue Amongst Royals, Tyrant of Traitors, and Blood of the Crown

Description: Slightly below average to average height, broad-shouldered, grey-green eyes, thick red-hair, powerful and stocky build.

Despite a somewhat intimidating stature, his disposition and youthful attitude make him a far less terrifying person that he might otherwise be. Mentor of William of Alamore.

Background: Haru was brought to train in Alamore at a young age. He was the last of the children of his family and, after the loss of his father at a young age, his mother and eldest brother ran the estates of the family. To ensure he didn't fall behind in training, Haru was sent to Alamore as soon as they would accept him--age six. This made him the youngest of the pages in training.

Sir Richard of Alamore took notice of the young boy trying to keep up with his peers and quickly began getting to know the friendly child. During holidays or long breaks from the castle, when other pages would go to visit their family estates, Haru's family never sent for him and he was left in Alamore.

However, Richard and his wife, Anryn, noticed this and soon brought him completely under their wing. He would ride with Richard to the city on days the pages were dismissed from training and spend hours or even days with the knight at Anryn's tavern - The Dancing Stag.

It seemed only right that, the day Haru became a squire, Sir Richard was granted the first right to be his mentor. Haru didn't hesitate accept the offer.

For six years, Haru trained under Richard. The majority of his training was done in Alamore castle, with knowledge of other places learned primarily through books. His greatest interests were in learning and training in tactical defense and his strong frame made him a force to be reckoned with in weaponry--often striking with enough strength to leave his opponent uncoordinated.

At seventeen, on the verge of eighteen, Haru had taken to joining younger squires in tactical and battle training as a coach. It was during one such assignment after a day of brutal hand-to-hand training against Sir Bane, that Haru met his future squire--William of Alamore.
