I was in severe pains

, It had been a while since I did my hill runs.

Now if you don't know what hill runs are…

I'll explain:

It's a part of my boxing training regimen where I jog up a hill 10 times…

And when I'm done jogging, I sprint up the hill 5 times at full speed.

Now , I haven't done these runs since last year because of a lot of reasons…

One of them being laziness and lack of priority.

Anyway, this week I decided to resume these runs…

So I woke up today at 5:40 AM…

Got ready and was at the foot of the hill by 6:30 AM.

I jogged…

And got into the hill sprints.

I ran up the first time and all was good.

I smiled within me because it felt good to still have it in me...

Or so I thought.

The second time was good too…

Third time good…

But by the fourth sprint, I could barely catch my breath.

That was when I realized that I was way out of shape.

I had regressed badly because I could easily do these sprints last year.

I barely even managed to run the 5th sprint.

I was in severe pain by the time I was going down the hill…

My back, my legs, my stomach all hurt like hell.

And that was when I remembered something I had always known.

It's faster to regress than it is to get better at something.

Getting better is hard because you've got to work hard for it (though at some point it gets easier because of the law of compounding)

But getting worse at something is so easy because all you've got to do is DO NOTHING

Just sit on your ass and make excuses.

In my case, I made excuses for why I couldn't do my hill sprints.

I made excuses like:

  • I'll replace it with swimming
  • I have so much client work to do
  • I have an important money goal to smash

These excuses look and sound so valid…

But they were still excuses because, in truth, I was just trying to avoid hill sprints.

And hill sprints are important because they improve my stamina in the boxing ring.

They help so I don't get gassed when facing my opponent (very dangerous)

Anyways, today I got reminded of the price we pay when we don't improve and get better.

You never stay the same way…

You are either getting better…

Or getting worse faster.

And I learned the hard way.

And it's the same in my business.

Why do I make sure to write every day and follow my systems daily?

Because I know that if I don't do them daily…

I would get worse fast.

  • My pitches would get worse
  • My copy would be trash
  • My content would suck

And it would take so much work to get back in shape.

I don't want that to happen so I've got to do the 1% that helps me improve daily.

And that's a lesson for you too .

Don't stop putting in the daily reps…

Unless it's going to get harder for you to get back in form.

You don't want that happening, do ya?

Well, I don't, and that's why I won't miss my hill sprints henceforth🥲

Stay jiggy
