My plan failed!
Jan 30, 2024 11:01 am
, I've spent the past week doing less than I initially planned to do.
I had intended to do a lot of meaningful work to move my money needle…
But in reality,
I spent less time on deep work…
And almost zero to no time on anything business related.
But here's the thing :
Even though my intended plan failed…
I still consider the past week a successful one…
Because I had a couple breakthroughs…
And in today's letter,
I would share 3 of these breakthroughs with you.
Paying attention?
What a good boy!
Let's dive:
- I just added a new hobby to my list
If you know me,
You'd know that I believe in spending time outside work doing the things you love…
And I believe every business owner or entrepreneur should structure their business in a way that allows them freedom to live life…
Instead of just chasing the bag like Twitter money gooroos
And because of this…
I structured my life around a couple hobbies:
- Basketball
- Boxing
- Playing chess
- Coding/programming
- Watching movies
Anyways, this week…
I added Swimming to this list.
You see, at the beginning of January, I made up my mind to learn how to swim.
In case global warming reaches a critical level and water overruns the whole world like the climate enthusiasts predict…haha…just kidding…
Anyways I just felt it was a valuable skill to learn.
What I didn't know was:
Swimming was the ULTIMATE form of relaxation.
Damnnn…I love it.
Sore shoulders from hitting the heavy bag during my boxing training?
A few minutes of swimming solves that!
Sore knees from running around for hours on the basketball court?
A few minutes of swimming saves the day!
Sore muscles from a grueling day lifting weights at the gym?
Guess what? Say hi to a few minutes of swimming!
It's almost topping my list of best hobbies.
Let's see if it overthrows boxing. (Don't think it would)
Anyways, I added it to my list…
And I've allocated a few hours of certain days in my week to perfecting it as a craft.
Who knows, I might beat Michael Phelps' record someday…hehehe
2. I solved my power issue
When I moved into my current apartment…
I was oblivious to the fact that generators were not allowed…
So I paid for the apartment…
Painted it…
Settled in…
Brought my gen in and started looking for the knife switch so that I could make a connection.
Well, I didn't find any…
So I went and complained to the security guard.
After almost 30 seconds of hearing him laugh…
He mouthed the words:
“We don't allow generators in this apartment”
Wtf!!!!
And that realtor didn't tell me shit about this.
I had paid…
Settled in…
And everything here was to my taste.
But how would I survive without constant electricity?
Nooooooo!!!
Well, thank God we have a good power supply here.
For a while I contemplated getting a solar panel and inverter setup…
But I just kept pushing it off because:
#1 The price almost sounded outrageous
#2 It felt unnecessary
#3 I was doing fine without it
Anyways this week, we had the worst power supply ever in the history of this place.
No light for almost 6 days!
Omg!
Well…long story short…
My solar panel guy laughed at me when I made my purchase ASAP
Phewwww…I love it!
3. I perfected my investment strategy
Since I began investing in 2021…
My strategy has always been crappy…
And I've found myself losing more and making less…
Because I didn't know shit about what stock to buy or what index to put my money in.
Until last 3 weeks when I started learning about that from Tony Robbins' book named: Money Master The Game
(You can get it delivered to you in any state in Nigeria from my book vendor here: https://wa.link/r8ui6o)
Anyways, Tony interviewed the best minds in investing…
Including the awesome Ray Dalio! Oracle of investing.
And he shared portfolio designs from these great minds for free in that book!
You should get it!
Anyways I have taken to using Ray Dalio’s all-seasons portfolio design…
And I look forward to the future.
Once again,
If you're serious about investing, you should get your hands on that book ASAP!
(SIDE NOTE: Investments in changing instruments like stocks and bonds takes heart because things can always go sideways. So I'm only giving my personal advice. I'm not a financial advisor)
All in all, even though I didn't do my usual business last week…
I loved every bit of it.
Also it allowed me to take a break from my usual day to day…
And come back this week with deeper love for the game.
So it's good to say: “I'm back!”
And , I've got something impressive to share with you this week!
Keep your eyes peeled here!
Stay jiggy
Oxide.
