The Number 1 Key

Jun 05, 2024 10:40 am

, yesterday after I was done writing to you about getting back online actively…

I revisited my VVKIK document.

Now if you've been reading my letters since 2022, you'd know what that means.

But for clarity sake, VVKIK stands for:

Vision, Values, Key Result Areas, Income Generating tasks, Key Performance Indicators

Now, since I had taken a significant break from my online journey…

I needed to begin by addressing the most important thing which is:

My Vision

Where do I see myself and my business 10, 15, 25 years down the line?

The next and most important thing I had to address was:

My Values

And this is the topic for today's letter.

I had to revisit my Values.

Why am I doing what I do?

What do I value most?

Am I just doing this for the money?

Or am I doing it because I want to create good in the world?

Now when I got to the values part…

I almost began to cry because reminding myself of why I was doing what I did was very liberating.

It felt like a weight was being lifted off my chest.

You see , I don't tell anyone this but…

One of the pivotal periods of my life was when I lost my dad.

I knew I had to do things differently.

There were responsibilities I now had to take on…

But I was crippled because I didn't know how to begin…

So I winged it.

I just kept doing what I was doing…

And in the process, I lost some of my values.

Reminding myself of these values yesterday was the best feeling ever.

I felt raw energy coursing through my veins.

I felt energy and momentum that I hadn't felt in a long time.

I felt the surge of a strong force that seemed to back me.

And in that moment, I knew I had to share this with you.

You see, sometimes we get caught up with the physical.

What we need to do…

Deadlines we need to beat…

Work on our table…

And because of this glaring work we can see…

We distract ourselves from the most important things which are internal.

Like our mindset and values

What drives us?

Why do we do what we do?

What do we value most?

We get so stuck on the fast lane of working and working that we ignore these crucial pieces.

We either ignore them totally…

Or we forget to remind ourselves of them.

And because of this,

We either get burned out, overwhelmed, or we lose the drive we once had.

I knew I had to revisit the fundamentals…

And revisiting my values yesterday was the most important activity of my day.

I'm fueled with so much energy to create insane magic for everyone around me and everyone around them too.

You should try it.

How?

Ask yourself these questions:

What drives me?

Why do I do what I do?

What do I value the most?

Don't get stuck on the fast lane that you forget to revisit these crucial things.

Stay jiggy

Oxide
