A cut beside my eye (pic inside)

, I suatained an injury from boxing this morning...

It's a cut beside my left eye from a clash between my head and my opponent's wrist bone while we were sparring.

And here's how it looks 👇

(I know…I know…still handsome with the cut right?)

Now , this injury taught me something…

And that is:

No matter how prepared you are for a situation…things can always go sideways.

In my case...

During today's sparring session…

I was kitted up.

I had my head guard on…

My mouthguard in my mouth…

My groin protector wrapped around my waist.

, I was the real definition of safety.

And here's the crazy part:

I was even more kitted than my opponent as he didn't have a mouthguard and a groin protector.

But at the end of the day…

I was the one who ended up injured.

It was a total accident because my opponent didn't plan this...

And it's against the rules of boxing to strike your opponent with anything other than your boxing gloves…

But in that short unplanned moment, no one saw coming...

He mistakenly ducked with his forearm extended and crashed his wrist bone into the side of my face.

It was an accident, nothing more, nothing less.

And accidents happen every day.

You can't always anticipate them…

Or be prepared for them…

But what you can do is accept them when they happen and try to solve them in any way you can.

This applies to business and marketing too.

Sometimes we put everything in place to the best of our ability…

And something unprecedented still happens that shakes us out of our wits.

In times like that…

I remind myself to focus on what I can control which is:

  1. Learning from the accident
  2. Solving it

Because it only makes sense to focus on what you can control…

And leave the rest to chance instead of worrying about them.

That's life for you.

And boxing just reminded me about it.

That's why it remains my best sport.

Disclaimer: Boxing is a dangerous game. I do not implore you to get into it. You can even lose your life in the practice of it. So if you ever intend to learn it, get a good trainer and be patient with the process.

Stay jiggy
