[Coaches in Cahoots] Are you a happiness bully?

Mar 26, 2024 2:22 pm

Hi ,

My guess is that you love to help people and encourage them when things are not going well. This is probably true with your friends, family, and maybe even your coaching clients. but what if the pain you are trying to help them escape is an important part of their journey?

A dear colleague of mine often reminds coaching students not to be a happiness bully. When we prematurely try to help people look on the bright side, see what's good in their circumstances, or jump to a solution too quickly, it can actually invalidate the importance of the pain they are experiencing in the moment. Pain is a huge catalyst for growth and change in the lives of human beings. Most of us move away from pain much ore quickly than we move towards pleasure, and we often won't change or grow until the pain of staying the same outweighs the pain of change.

In our community call today, we'll discuss the importance of helping our clients really face their pain so they can make powerful choices about what they want to do.

Our community call is today, March 26 (In the US), at two different times. I'd love to have you join us at whichever you choose.
