Well, hello, !

I've been looking forward to this week for months.

Why?

Because my nephews just arrived for their annual summer visit!

One of our summer traditions is to head over to Rhode Island to swim in the ocean while the tide is coming in and the waves are big. We swim for too long, inhale too much salt water, get too much sun, and then eat ice cream for dinner.

We were supposed to do that today.

But it's raining.

Still. (It's been raining since the boys arrived on Monday.)

And so, we've found other ways to entertain ourselves.

I don't own a television, and none of us want to spend our time looking at our devices when we see each other so infrequently. The boys love card games and board games, so we've been playing Canasta and they've been teaching me how to play Magic: The Gathering and Catan.

We also made chicha morada, which we first had a couple of years ago at one of the Peruvian restaurants in town, and a delicious chicken curry for dinner.

I still plan to take the boys to the beach if the weather cooperates. If that doesn't happen, we've got plenty to keep us busy!

There's always more than one way forward.
