#547 – Where would you land if you kept going no matter what?
If you move consistently in one direction, you'll get there, wherever that is. The problem is we often get confused and turn around, or lose faith and turn around.
The other big, important problem is that we often move, unconsciously, in the direction of where we don't want to be. By focusing on what we don't want, we keep it at the center of our attention and, that's where we move towards, even if we're trying to not go there.
Or why do you think soccer goalies wear bright-color gloves? They're trying to influence the kicker's unconscious attention so that they kick the ball onto their hands.
So, if you don't want something in your experience, don't pay attention to it.
Last year, when my son was in jail and I still didn't know this, I spent my days thinking about how awful it must be to be in jail at that young age. I also thought about how biased the judge seemed during the whole process and how skewed the prosecutors' opinions looked.
Needless to say, I kept myself imprisoned in that feeling of unfairness, continuing to nurture the sadness for my son's lack of freedom––despite having written my high-school philosophy final exam about how the human mind can never be imprisoned, no matter the physical circumstances one is in.
By contrast, when I applied for my green card, my immigration attorney recommended me to write that my annual salary would be $100K, despite having no job in sight.
The salary of my first full-time job as a green card holder? $100K.
What I'm saying is, only by keeping your eye on the prize (and not in its absence), will you get to what you really want to go.
What are you focusing your attention on?
Love,
Carolina
