#252 – The world needs you, not your Ego

By definition, Egos are fragile. They spot threats everywhere and when they can’t be sure of an outcome, they’d rather stay put – a devil you know is better than an angel you don’t.

Fear and vigilance, that's the fuel of the Ego’s single-minded objective: to protect.

But your True Self knows the truth: your* physical body is the only thing you have to protect, and only from real threats (a saber-tooth tiger, a virus, wildfires, starvation…). Alas, the threats your Ego cares about are mostly imaginary – no one ever died of embarrassment.

Your Ego fears the different, because it doesn't recognize it.

But your True Self knows that there's no us versus them, because we're all us.

Your Ego fears losing status, because it thinks you'll be rejected if you do.

But your True Self doesn't care about status, because consciousness doesn't understand it.

Some Egos also fear:

  • Losing an election
  • Seeing people who don't look like them acquire the same rights they have
  • Seeing people whom they believe inferior making decisions about their own bodies

When people in power, listening to their frightened Egos, respond to these imaginary threats, they strengthen the fear and cause division. Maybe that's what they want: a divided population is easier to manipulate.

I write this newsletter and work on myself every day to disempower my Ego, so that its screams don't cover my True Self's voice. I'd love it if my insights helped you disempower yours.

The world needs you, not your Ego.

What will you do to tone down your Ego's voice?

Love,

Carolina
