What’s your Ego looking for in certainty?

#411 – What is your Ego looking for in certainty?
If only you knew what was going to happen, you'd get a chance to prepare, your Ego tells you. You could then overcome any hurdle and you’d be fine.
Your Ego believes that certainty is where safety is.
When it wakes you up in the middle of the night, filling you with anxiety because your son hasn’t gone to sleep yet (his light is on at 3 am), it makes you crave certainty: that everything’s going to be alright, that he won’t go back to jail, that he’ll become an independent, fulfilled, and happy adult.
For your Ego, certainty is a permission slip: allowed to sleep. Although the feeling is no more real than an Ambien-induced dream, your Ego convinces you it’s all you need in order to feel safe.
You can listen to it if you want, but it won’t matter,
because certainty can (and will) evaporate in the blink of an eye, and then you’ll be left with nothing.
Be certain of you, your consciousness, and your intention. And when (not if) hard things come your way, be certain that you’ll handle them—life’s ultimate purpose.
How will dropping the cravings for certainty make you more aware of the meaning of life?
Love,
Carolina
