What are you attracting into your life?

#559 – What are you attracting into your life?

I never used to believe in such things as the "law of attraction." Things happen, I thought, and that's it.

Yes, true. But.

Now I have a different understanding of something I've heard many times: "the better it gets, the better it gets" means that things or events attract other things or events that match them.

Yesterday, I felt really bad: my son's travel permit hadn't come and we needed to leave the apartment. And there wasn't room in the car for my Dyson vacuum cleaner––bummer. We ended up staying in a low-quality hotel because everything in Miami is so expensive and I didn't want to spend too much money.

This morning, I woke up early and came down with my laptop to write. I started working on my book, Stop Being Afraid of Money, which I'd abandoned when my son went to jail.

I wrote for two hours and a completely different feeling emerged in me. One of possibility, power, agency. And detachment from circumstances.

Suddenly, the hotel's quality didn't bother me. I no longer felt like a sad little puppy left behind after the owners move. The travel permit situation became just a speck of dust in my experience. Something I have no control over and don't need to feel guilty about. It just is and I won't let it taint my happiness.

Because my happiness is inside me.

When I encounter things I don't like, I'm more certain of what I do like. But encountering unwanted things doesn't say anything about my worth as a person or my intelligence or goodness.

What do you want in your life?

Love,

Carolina
