Should write a book about going hungry for a week...

I'm kidding, I didn't exactly go hungry for a week! :)

Hey guys, so I promised I would tell you about my experience in a detox center once I came back. It all started with my boyfriend, who suggested we did something special for our 5-year anniversary - spend seven days in a detox center! Done. There's nothing more romantic than drinking only juices and alkaline water for seven days straight, plus cleansing your colon every day. Yeah. Yeah, you read that right. It was part of the deal.

I'm sorry, guys. This newsletter just got serious. Haha!

So, it wasn't that bad. In fact, it was a much better experience than we expected, and the results kind of blew us away. For one, the juices weren't that simple. I mean, I can't make them at home. We actually learned that only drinking fruit juices is not healthy, especially if you do it for more than three days, let's say. At the detox center, they combined fruit juices with veggie juices. The fruit juices also had psyllium in them, and ALL juices had medicinal clay to better purge the kidneys. They also gave us extra concentrated shots made of carrots and wheatgrass. Food supplements, probiotics in the evening, and you know what? We weren't that hungry. I personally suffered a bit the first two days. On day two, I had an awful headache, and I woke up during the night with horrible stomach pains. But I just drank water, went to sleep, and stayed focused on what I wanted to achieve. By day four, I had plenty of energy and I didn't feel hungry anymore. My stomach literally wasn't asking for food.

We exercised every day, and we kept busy by booking all of the spa treatments we could get. Massages of all kinds, skin treatments, Turkish bath (absolutely divine!), workshops, meditations... We pampered ourselves to the moon and back. It was really important to stay as busy as possible, so we wouldn't get bored and think about food.

Here are my results: I lost 3 kg (a bit over 6 pounds), my water retention problem was fixed, I don't have cravings anymore, I eat less. The thing about cravings... I mean, I might think about something sugary, sure. But I can shift my attention from it in a second. Like, in the past, if I wanted something sweet or junk food, I would eventually get it. Now, I think about it for a moment, shrug, and move on. Since we got home, we've eaten clean, mostly fruits and veggies, and we don't have cravings. I haven't even touched coffee yet. We also eat less, and I'm thinking our stomachs got used to less food. It's also much, much easier to deal with hunger when it hits. Like... it's not a big deal. Most of the time, when I feel hungry, I discover I'm actually thirsty, and I drink water.

Okay, I'm trying not to make this email too long. LOL It's supposed to be about books, not detoxing. All in all, it was an awesome experience, and definitely the best, most useful thing we could've done for our anniversary. We'll probably go again next year. If you have any questions, hit reply and let me know!

Now on to the books! I have some recommendations for you this week. They're super yummy, I promise. Check them out!

I’ve always known I’m a terrible cook. But summoning a demon while attempting to make a simple chicken soup? That’s just next level.

Asmodeus, King of Hell, ruler over too many demon armies to try counting them, is in the middle of my destroyed kitchen, awaiting an explanation. He says I’m a powerful witch, but that’s just ridiculous. He says he’s bound to me, and he’ll fulfill any wish I have.

What do I say? Despite his horns, hooves, and tail, he’s stupidly handsome. And I need to find a way to banish him before he gets under my skin.
