Need I say more?
Just kidding, I will say more, of course! Okay, my Wylde-lings! So, this book! Why do I say it will break your heart? Because it broke mine as I wrote it. And then it broke my brain when I had to pull an all-nighter to finish the final edits. No, but really... This book is intense! I love it with every fiber of my being, and I can't wait to see what YOU think about it!
Thing of Ruin is the first book in Stitchborne: The Sacred and the Sewn series. It came out today on Amazon, it's in Kindle Unlimited, and it will soon be available in paperback as well (I'm working on it). It's a long book, longer than I usually write (over 100k words), and I will tell you now that it ends in a cliffhanger (sorry, but it was necessary). It has twists and turns, and one of the most awesome and complex magic systems I've ever created.
The main characters simply have chemistry. I mean, look at them!
If you saw the newest Frankenstein movie by Guillermo del Toro (it came out in November), then you will love this book. It's a whole vibe. I've always loved Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, and the gothic genre is one of my favorites. I wanted to combine it with romance, historical, and fantasy, and what I got is a dark, moody historical gothic romantasy that I think you'll enjoy.
Writing this book was a labor of love, because I'll tell you something: historical romance is not an easy genre. The amount of research I had to do while writing was insane! Every little detail I wanted to introduce, I had to research. Every little thing the characters say - I had to make sure it was at least somewhat historically accurate. Now, it's not perfect. Don't expect archaic language or anything like that. But I tried to anchor the story in the mood and vibes of 19th century Bavaria.
There are some trigger warnings I will mention. The world is dark, there's a war going on, so expect: mentions of sexual assault (character past, not on page), violence (not between the main characters), imprisonment, murder, gore, brief suicidal ideation.
The magic system is based on relics (sacred bones coming from saints), so religion is mentioned a lot. Back in those days, Europe was highly religious, so it made sense.
With these being said, I'll let you check it out now, if you think it's up your alley. Here are the links to Amazon one more time:
