OFFER THAT GUY

Who doesn't want a defensive end with a 7'0 wingspan. Yes please! CFC100 class of 2022, Isaiah Hastings, from Toronto, Ontario checks all the boxes. 6'5" 275lbs, athletic as albeit, this kid is definitely someone you want to invest the next 4 to 5 years in. Buffalo is already on the ball with their offer, jump on the boat before it starts to float away.

Our take:

  • Really good job coming out of stance
  • Fantastic frame
  • Play inside or outside
  • Does a good job penetrating the backfield

SOUTH OF THE BORDER HEADLINES

  • PAC-12’s back along with the debut of MACtion, meaning more Canadian content in college football! The most notable Canadian content returning to action with this group, partially due to position, is CFC100 quarterback Kurtis Rourke, who’s taken the reigns as QB1 following the departure of his brother, CFC100 Nathan Rourke, for the pro ranks, where he’s with the BC Lions.

  • Canadians were relatively quiet this weekend in CFB, with some bye weeks/cancellations (John Metchie/Terrell Jana) and injuries (Chuba Hubbard) contributing to that. Two of the three most notable performances came from CFC100/CFC40 DE Daniel Joseph, who had five tackles for NC State, and CFC60 Enock Makonzo, who had 9 tackles for the thriving Chanticleers. The crown for performance of the week has to go to Hawaii’s CFC100 Nick Mardner though, who had 6 catches for 147 yards and a TD as a crucial part of Hawaii’s comeback against New Mexico.

  • Senior offensive tackle at Lehigh University, CFC100/CFC40 Chris Fournier, announced that he’s entering the transfer portal for next season, but remains committed to playing the spring season with the Mountain Hawks. This means his draft year will be deferred to 2022, and with this year not taking a year of eligibility for college football players, it’s very possible that other seniors will defer to 2022 as well, meaning some names could be added to the list of names of players who won’t be remaining on our CFC40 for the next edition.

RECRUITING TIP

Most popular questions from recruits this week?

Part of getting the most out of your workouts are choosing the best shoe for the job. There are a lot of choices for shoes out there, and some are better than others. In this article Strength and Conditioning expert Elliott Richardson provides a few options that he believes check enough of the boxes to consider wearing for your training.

BOTTOM LINE:

Generally, a good training shoe is both thinner and stiffer. It doesn’t need to be a complete ‘minimus’ or ‘vibram’ model. Especially in the gym, a shoe just shouldn’t be too thick, or have too much cushion like a basketball shoe or your traditional ‘running’ shoe.
