OFFER THAT GUY
CFC200 2021 safety/ linebacker, Jaylen Smith, definitely has a nose for the ball. And check out his quickness...dude is coming at you at 100 miles an hour. The 6'0" 211lbs hybrid havoc maker, can play both in the box, out of the box and as a deep defender. Find ball, track ball, tackle ball.
Smith would have played in the inaugural CFC Prospect Game that was televised on TSN in 2019, but couldn't due to injury at the time. Once he completes his season down south this year, we don't see why he wouldn't get multiple offers.
Our take:
- Really athletic, rangy defender
- Played mostly as a safety in Canada
- Outstanding football instincts

TOP PROSPECTS of the week
Today Katie Uttley catches up with Sainte-Catherine, QC native CFC100 QB Noah Gravel, who's looking to take his dual-threat skills under centre all the way to the pros.
Kato and Noah discuss how he remains calm in the face of a stressful recruiting process, what he'd like to do after he hangs up his cleats, and his desire to become a role model for future Canadian prospects.

SOUTH OF THE BORDER HEADLINES
- In college football this week, as there are every single week nowadays, some Canadians had great performances. In a close loss to Texas (which I am extremely upset about), CFC40 Amen Ogbongbemiga had 10 tackles and a sack, while Chuba Hubbard was held to only 72 yards on 25 rushing attempts, but did show he could be an impactful part of the receiving game with 4 catches for 34 yards and a TD. Another Canadian RB had a far better day rushing than CFC40 Chuba Hubbard though, with Illinois RB CFC100 Chase Brown going for 73 yards on 11 attempts, while his twin brother and teammate, safety CFC100 Sydney Brown had 7 tackles, the same level of production as Coastal Carolina’s CFC60 Enock Makonzo, who also had 7 tackles.
- This week in NFL news, Canadian defensive tackle Eli Ankou was traded by the Texans to the Cowboys, which will make it his fourth team of the season. The Cowboys are the hotspot for Canadian defensive linemen, as Ankou joins veteran DE Tyrone Crawford and rookie DT and CFC100 Neville Gallimore, not to mention their Canadian long snapper and former Pro Bowler, L.P. Ladouceur, who’s natural position is along the defensive line.
- A couple CFC100s made their NCAA commitments over the past week. CFC Prospect Game CFC100 DE Zach Lytle announced his commitment to the Ivy League’s Dartmouth College. In addition to that, CFC100 LB Darius McKenzie committed to the Howard Bisons, who he will join come 2021.
RECRUITING TIP
Most popular questions from recruits this week?
Any program, at any level, if it's going to provide you with a great education and football experience, should be explored. While many athletes have DI or DII in their dreams, DIII may be the more realistic option if you are determined to play in the United States.
BOTTOM LINE:
DIII schools do not have to follow many of the NCAA recruiting rules that DI and DII have to follow. They can send you recruiting material at any time. Most will start to send out mail after your junior season. They can call you at any time and start at any point in your career. These calls are usually done to build a relationship with you and to get you to their camps and on campus.
