OFFER THAT GUY

Check out the guy that returns a kick for a touchdown right out of the gate - this gets your attention. CFC100 2022 (new edition to be released soon) wide receiver, Xavier Gaillardetz, out of Quebec, definitely checks the boxes. With 1342 all purpose yards and 27 touchdowns...oh, and don't forget the 4 interceptions, dude just finds himself in the end zone. His film is electric. Some players just 'get it'. Gaillardetz has taken his talents down south, and we're pretty sure he'll be heating up soon. Get your tickets, you'll be reading his name on the back of some D1 jersey in the near future.

Our take:

  • Gamebreaker, has a feel for the game
  • Is extremely well built, is a big play Swiss Army knife
  • Plays multiple positions on offence and returns kicks

SOUTH OF THE BORDER HEADLINES

  • There have been many notable Canadian performances through week 4 and 5 of NFL gameplay. In week 4, Alex Singleton had the game-winning pick six for the Philadelphia Eagles, who beat the 49ers 25-20. Singleton’s performance was good enough for a Madden 21 Ultimate Team Team of the Week card, which you know I had to buy. The more notable performance came in week 5 from CFC100 Chase Claypool who had 4 total touchdowns to go along with 110 yards receiving on 7 catches. Hoping that earns him a TOTW card to add to my Ultimate Team too.

  • Two CFC100s earned their first Division I offers over the past couple weeks. The first to do so was 2021 TE Jaxson Isaac, who picked up an offer from Southeastern Louisiana. In addition, 2022 REC Kenzy Le Paul picked up his first offer from Tulane, and shortly after followed that up with an offer from Ole Miss. Look for these guys to get more.

  • Many Canadians were on the field this weekend in NCAA action. 3 receivers had big-time performances this weekend, starting with Terrell Jana, who had 9 catches for 111 yards against NC State in a loss. Tennessee’s CFC100 Josh Palmer had 71 yards on 4 catches to go with 2 TDs against Georgia. For Alabama, CFC100 WR John Metchie had 4 receptions for 75 yards in a matchup against Ole Miss. CFC100 CB Patrice Rene also had his best performance on the year with 5 tackles, a pass breakup, and a QB hurry.

RECRUITING TIP

Most popular questions from recruits this week?

Most prospects have an idea about what position they'd like to play, but reality is different once everybody straps on the pads. The most obvious indicator is height and weight compared to your age group. Are you 6'4", 140lbs? Than you'll likely be playing receiver or defensive back. Are you 6'1", 275lbs? Than you'll likely be playing in the trenches. Height and weight are the best indicator, but it only breaks prospects up into position groups. The other basic skillsets that will be assessed is arm strength, speed, catching ability, tackling technique, strength and football knowledge.

BOTTOM LINE:

Every coach wants to put his players in the best position to win, and sometimes this can cause conflicts with a prospect's future potential. You could have the best arm on your community football team and win multiple championships, but that might not be the best position for you at the next level.
