Chris, good questions. Hammond Hill in Rockland only allows stays of up to six months at a time. Some owners when they are not using them rent them out as short term rentals, which is allowed.
My wife and I own one of them (a Vanguard model we call “Trail House”) but we decided to move it to a property in Kanata North/Dunrobin where we rent it out long term. Speaking personally, I am not keen on short term rentals. The place has a sleeping area at grade and another one in the loft. The one at grade is a desk/table during the day that turns into a bed at night and vice versa. In theory, you could sleep four people in one of these, but it’s more livable long term with one occupant or two. For a look inside these tiny homes, have a peek at what we did with our unit, https://youtu.be/N_vObk8bXCQ. This video is unlisted so please don’t share it or post it anywhere, OK?
Have you ever lived in a tiny house? It’s not for everyone but if believe in the tiny house movement’s motto (LESS HOUSE, MORE LIFE), it can be great.
One more thing—we are part of a group that bought a beautiful 27-acre farm 15 mins south of Greely where we are allowed to host 4 tiny homes. If you’re interested, I can send you more info on that too.
Best, Bruce
Ps we also rep larger tiny homes (which is on a property my wife and I own). It's 479 sq ft of living space on 2 levels...
