NUGGETS from the Headstart Summit (1 of 10)
May 19, 2020 12:00 pm
As promised, I will send my notes from the summit. I shall make them as detailed as I can, while trying not to make them so long. Here goes. Speaker 2 (but the first one I tuned in to):
JOHN OBIDI – SKILLS OF THE NEW ECONOMY
The world has gone techy. This pandemic has shown us that though everything is halted, the internet isn’t. So today, learn the following things to remain relevant. They are techy, but you can do it.
· How to make a website. Go to Squarespace or WIX.com.
These have good free versions.
· How to be found online.
Go and make an online profile of yourself. When people google you, let it not only be Facebook page that pops up. Go to ABOUT.ME
· How to run a simple Facebook AD.
Search for “Facebook Blueprint”, it is a free course on how to create good Facebook ads.
· How to Start Email marketing.
You should have your customers in your own domain. Stop building on rented land. Followers on Instagram and Facebook are good, but are borrowed land. There are many free platforms- SENDFOX and MAILCHIMP are some.
· How to build an online store.
You can start off using SHOPIFY.com. They currently have a promo of 90days free. Check them out.
· How to Get in on the Digital Knowledge business
- First make sure you are selling what sells here.
- Find something in your skillset that solves a pain point.
- Digitize it – create an online course and/or ebooks
- Use TEACHABLE.com to create your own online school
Lastly, join the Headstart Africa Facebook group. You will learn a whole lot!
Till I come your way tomorrow with more tips, I encourage you to take action on at least two of these tips above. Which two can you start with right away? And which would you like to but need help with? If I can't help, I can send you to someone who can.
And if you know any friends that should benefit from this, do send them this email and encourage them to subscribe by clicking the button below.
I remain your best girl,
Brenda Unu.
