Do you also feel that you're "wasting time" if you're not doing something productive? I'm asking, because it became a problem for me recently, where I got so preoccupied with "doing the work" and "moving the needle forward" that I forgot to relax and enjoy the day sometimes.

If it's not client work, then it's my portfolio or website, or that one more thing I should do before I turn on Playstation or watch Netflix, and there I see people doing what they love (acting/cooking/travelling) while I "waste my time watching TV". Spiral of anxiety.

You've got to permit yourself to relax.

I needed to hear this, so maybe you need to hear it too. Chances are that you are not at the rock bottom. Growing your career and building your business takes time. There's a lot of stuff to do, and we can only do so much in a day, that it can often feel that we are not doing enough. But you need to take a day off every once in a while, to just stop and appreciate where you are. When we keep looking forward, it's easy to miss how far we've actually got.

I love this little diagram - it reminds me to focus on a single thing per day / week. Get the task done, and then move onto the next.

One thing that I now add as a "task" to my schedule and weekly goals it time to relax, time for myself to do something unrelated to my work, and enjoy that time without judgement or being hard on myself.

I would appreciate a good movie recommendation from you. It doesn't have to be a blockbuster or an extremely popular film, rather something you fond good that might have gone "under the radar" because it wasn't a cinema hit.

Last night, I've watched The Judge (2014) with Robert Downey Jr. and Robert Duvall. I don't often watch drama movies, because they tend to land hard, especially before bedtime. This one I enjoyed very much and would recommend.

Have a relaxing Saturday.

Cheers,

T.
