As her fingers moved the pens along the paper, she did her best to color within the lines set forth. Sucking the pacifier, she rested her head on the armrest as the final tear rolled down her cheek. Nothing calmed her mind and heart like little space, escaping the realities of adult things. He allowed Autumn to regress to a child-like state without disturbing her peace, and she allowed him to contemplate things without demanding conversation. Although unspoken, they’d come to understand each other in a way that only a Daddy and Little could. Taariq placed the drink next to her, but she didn’t look at him. 

“You need this to get stronger. The space expedition won’t be easy on you because of your Earth human needs.” 

Autumn took the pacifier out of her mouth in protest. 

“But I don’t want to go back to Earth,” she whined. 

“We’ll talk about this later,” he said, his hand stroking her hair.  He knelt down until he was at eye level with her. “You’re not disposable, baby girl.”
