Hello
When designing a P&ID, we should put ourselves in the shoe of the operator.
This can be done through these example questions:
- How shall the operator know if the equipment is performing well or not?
- When taking the system out of service, how shall the operator isolate the system from the plant safely and smoothly?
- After isolating the system, how shall he get rid of the trapped liquid or gas in order to start maintenance activities?
- During maintenance activities, what are the connections needed in order to ensure easy maintenance?
In addition, a P&ID is expected to show systems that are not usually shown on a PFD. This is because these systems are not used during normal operations, but they are mainly used during maintenance or emergency situations. These can be:
- The closed drain system
- The open drain system
- And the relief system
If you'd like to know more details about operational considerations, we are preparing a detailed P&ID course, which is about to be launched within the next few days. You can click below to know more about it:
Have a nice day / night !!
