Having flowers in the house used to be such an aspirational thing for me!
I remember hearing one of my first proto-coach inspirations talk about always having flowers in the house over 10 years ago.
Seemed ridiculous, frivolous, and expensive. I couldn’t think of self-care at that level, I was focused on survival (even if I wouldn’t have put it that way at the time).
And now… I get myself flowers! (and Brandon reminds me if I forget <3)
Part of me still feels defensive about it. Look at that beautifully human brain, wanting to tell you "it's always the cheapest, longest-lasting flowers! Look, I love myself AND I’m still frugal!"
It’s a baby step I’m happy to be making.
And the flowers really are lovely, I smile every time. They are beautiful, no matter what.
And I feel so much richer and more satisfied - I AM the person who gets myself flowers now. I care about my surroundings and happiness. I do spend money just to make myself happy in the cleanest way - for delight not indulgence with bad consequences. It’s really great!
Do you have a little, niggling, “I wish I took care of myself better” in your life? One that you can give yourself a taste of (without making it this massive undertaking and then disaster your brain wants to convince you it will be? I see you, brain!).
Let me know what you come up with!

PS: Coaching is a pretty awesome way to dig up what's keeping you from doing the little things you know would make life better. From the obvious logistical things, to the deep ways you haven't yet fallen in love with yourself yet - and I'm on a roll as a coach! Would love to speak with you one-on-one - the free consult can be the most valuable part of the process, where you finally talk about what you'd really like to do. Here to schedule!
