Iron sharpens iron

Hi

Proverbs 27:17 says: "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another."

It's one of those verses that's so familiar it can lose its edge. But sit with it for a moment.

Iron doesn't sharpen iron gently. It sharpens through friction. Through resistance. Through contact that would feel uncomfortable if iron could feel anything.

That's the image the writer chose. Not one candle lighting another. Not water filling a vessel. Iron, against iron.

I think there's something in that for how we raise our kids.

The goal isn't to protect them from every hard edge they might encounter. The goal is to make sure they've been sharpened — by the right things, at the right times, in an environment where we can still help them process what just happened.

A kid who has been sharpened can walk into a room full of people who disagree with everything they believe and hold their own — not by fighting, but by being genuinely solid.

That's what I want to help you build.

I'll be sharing details on the training soon.
