I've gotta tell you about this guy at the library...

Dear reader,
I love libraries. Like, a lot. In fact I love them so much that I often go to my local library to write. It's a place of tranquility, you know? Serenity. A place where creativity can blossom; where we all can engage in the beautiful pursuit of knowledge and entertainment whilst in perfect harmony...
...except for this one guy.
Before I begin, I have to let you know that I've got nothing against this guy. He's clearly led a rough life, and every one deserves a safe space to be themselves.
But my dude is loud.
So. Bloody. Loud.
He treats the library like his own personal gaming lounge. He heads into the back (where I like to write) with, I swear, a whole duffle bag full of mouse pads and energy drinks and whirring CPU cooling fans. Then he starts screaming to his gaming buddies over his microphone as he aggressively, obsessively plays this WWII air combat simulator, which is also loud.
He is immune to stink eye, indifferent to grumpy grunts from the college kids studying next to him, and no amount of shushing librarians ever does any good. My dude is a force of nature.
Speaking of nature, occasionally one animal evolves to coexist with a particularly noxious species, learning to thrive where others cannot. Think of a clown fish evolving to live inside an anemone, or a little bird picking scraps out of a crocodile's teeth.
Well, I am that little bird, ladies and gentlemen.
I recently discovered that if I have my earplugs in AND my headphones on over the top of them AND I'm blasting rain sounds, well then I can't even hear loud guy! In fact I've grown quite fond of the dude.
You see, as long as he's there, there's always a vacant writing desk for me.
