Happy Weekend, everyone! 

So, last weekend I went camping. It was the first trip my little family and I have taken all together and it was absolutely freezing until the exact moment we were packing up on Day 3… then, of course, it was perfect. Welcome to the Pacific Northwest, lol. I had all the best intentions during that forced 3-day unplugging from the internet. I was going to write! I was going to dig out my notebook and sketch new character bios! I was going to glean inspiration from the beauty of nature while sitting around a campfire! A new flash fiction piece for my newsletter! ALL THE THINGS!

Uh, well…. So….. 

None of that happened. LOL.

Instead, I sat around a campfire with my family and basically did nothing for three days except hang out with the fam, day drink, eat all the carbs, watch as my kid came perilously close to antagonizing some Canadian Geese, annnnnnd move my camp chair around periodically so I wasn’t directly in the wind. And it was kind of perfect.

I have since returned to the land of wifi and I am running a teensy bit behind. Nothing major, but because of that - there’s no flash fiction piece this month. Hopefully I will be on the ball for next month! For now, I am still working on Matestone Guardians 3 - Birds of a Feather that is due out to your Kindle by the end of July. Get ready for a socially-inept Kraken with lots of nerd jokes to join the harem! :)

🇺🇸 Memorial Day Note 🇺🇸

 If you are a reader of mine in the United States, it’s a long weekend for Memorial Day. This weekend can be difficult. I have never served in the military but I have quite a few friends (and family) that have.… and I’ve also lost people close to me while they were serving.  We were all so young back then. I look at my life sometimes and the things that surround me and I wonder what it would have been like for them. Years have gone by but grieving never really stops, does it? It just...changes.

This weekend is often one that is marked by BBQs, time with friends/family, and lots of flags. It has different meanings for different people but, in honor of my friends that were lost - I lift a shot of my favorite whiskey and just remember.  If you are remembering a loved one this weekend, I send you my love and raise my glass in memory of your loss as well.
