Message from Jane Sieling:

Transporting a timp from Wootton Upper School

We are able to borrow Wootton Upper School’s 28” timp for the concert at St Paul’s on 2nd May. If there is someone who could possibly pick up the timp the day before, deliver it to St Paul’s on the Saturday, take the timp after the concert, and deliver it back to Wootton Upper School on the Monday, please drop me a line at [email protected] or call me on 07737 043632. Thank you so much.

CONCERTS AND TICKETS

Tickets are selling pretty well (about 50% sold), but we need every member of Sinfonia to bring friends and family, if we’re going to have a full house!

What is amazing is the number of young people coming to this concert!  25% of the audience so far are under 18!

Please remind your school contacts that this is the perfect concert for those doing GCSE/A level Music or Music Tech, where they will hear incredibly impressive compositions done by their peers. They are very welcome - and it’s free for them.

Rupert has paper tickets available for you to buy at rehearsals this week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  Thanks, Rupert!

The QR code on the programme links directly to the pdf of the programme notes, but they are not that easy to read on a phone.  Please advise your guests to print them off before they come, if that helps.  Moving forward, we’ll try to change the layout of the pdf to make it more phone friendly.

Podcast episode: it’s been a while since we’ve done a podcast episode and here is a great one with Mark Phillips, who has led our Young Composer’s Competition where we talk about music education, composition and the role of amateur organisations.  He leaves us (BOS) with a real challenge for the future!

Do take a listen and share:

Thank you so much to everyone who is helping to share posts on social media - we've really noticed more engagement and it's the difference between getting 400 views and 6000 when you share/like/comment! Thank you!

Open Rehearsal: May 6th with U3A

We are delighted to be welcoming 48 people from U3A Bedford/Kempston (University of the Third Age) for a visit to see BSO in action. This is a paid event and is therefore intended to be not only informative, but also fun, entertaining and “an experience”!

Our guests will be seated in front of and around the orchestra and on the raised seating area and we will serve refreshments for them in the break on the terrace, if the weather is good enough.  The break will be short, but slightly extended.  Bjorn will also take some time to chat to them during the rehearsal to explain what we are doing and guide them through the evening.

A couple of things to help with the organisation:

Thank you in advance!

Reminder: Open Rehearsal: BSO POTENTIAL NEW RECRUITS May 20th
