Saturday 2nd May, 7.30pm St Paul's Church
You're invited!
With under a week to go before this very special concert, we are so excited to bring you this incredible celebration of excellence, talent and music.
Bedford Sinfonia
Saturday 2nd May
7.30pm
St Paul's Church, Bedford
Conductor: Ian Smith
Soloist: Carolyn Sampson OBE
The theme of the concert is teenage composers. All of the pieces were written before the composers' twentieth birthdays!
It's such a privilege for us to have Carolyn Sampson OBE joining us to sing the joyous Exsultate, jubiliate by Mozart. She has sung it many times and recorded it with the King's Consort. If you follow us on Facebook or Instagram, you will notice that I shared a clip!
Carolyn is one of the very best soprano soloists in the world - and I don't say that lightly! She's also local to Bedford, having grown up here and come through the County Youth Orchestras and Youth Opera and she continues to support music locally and music education nationally, especially as patron of the St Andrew's Series of Concerts here in Bedford and other national charities. We're delighted that she is joining us for this special concert.
It's also the culmination of an incredible journey for our three winners of our Young Composer's Competition, whose compositions are going to be played by Bedford Sinfonia. In rehearsal, our orchestra members have not only been impressed by their work, but also vcery moved to see such young musicians breaking onto the scene with bright futures ahead.
This is a once in a lifetime concert - do join us if you can!

Podcast episode: With Mark Phillips
https://bedfordsymphony.com/about/podcast/
I was delighted to interview Mark Phillips, who has led our Composition Competition from start to finish, for a podcast episode. Many of you will know Mark as a previous Head of Music and now a music education consultant who supports schools nationally. We talked about the importance of composition and the role of amateur organisations in supporting music education - and he left us with a great challenge!
We look forward to seeing you, for what is going to be a very special evening!
With best wishes
