Hi ,
Hope this email finds you well. I just got back from a family vacation in Puerto Rico. My family and I had a blast and wish we didn't have to come back to the realities of the day to day grind.
Though I had a lot of fun, leading up to it posed its' challenges especially as a caregiver. My dad spent the week leading up to my trip in the hospital. Luckily it was nothing too serious. With being auto-immune compromised, any hospitalization my dad has can pose some challenges.
As we do or at least should do as caregivers, is have tough conversations. Since I had this vacation planned for months, I had to ask my dad if he wanted to go to a nursing home for respite care only. Of course he refused. He initially also refused having an home attendent to check on him while at home when he was discharged. Luckily he agreed to that.
Of course he was discharged the day of my vacation starting and I was not notified of him being discharged by the hospital, smdh. Gotta love the post covid American health system.
Spending of our fine system, if you are anxious, worried and upset about potential Medicaid, Medicare and food stamp cuts, you should be. These entitlements are lifelines for our elders. If the anxiety is too much for you to bear, I am still offering a 45 minute consultation on how your finances and mental health would be impacted.
