Caregiving tips to end 2024

Hope you had an amazing Thanksgiving.

Here are some tips to assist you before 2024 ends:

1. If your parent, or family member you care for needs to apply for Medicare or a Medicare Advantage plan (Medicare Part C), you have until December 15th to apply.
2. Security cost of living increase is happening in 2025. If your family member receives a monthly check, they will see an increase, approx $50 increase. Most won't see an increase due to the Medicare premium is increasing as well.
3. Speaking of social security, if your loved one receives a check, in December you will get the Income Verification letter aka social security award letter. It will tell you how much the 2025 check will be. CHECK YOUR MAIL.
4. As a result of the increase, if your loved one receives Medicaid as well as Medicare, Medicaid may be dropped due to getting more money in social security. PLAN accordingly.

These are the day to day things we in the sandwich generation go through and have to deal with.
