I'm in Greece!

Greece has been AMAZING! Like I don't have words to explain it. The people, the food, the stuff I've seen. All of it makes me seriously think about moving to Greece, or at least staying here a few months. I'll try to cover everything, but still if you get a chance go, just maybe not in the middle of summer. There were so many tourists (and yes I understand the hypocrisy) and we were outside where the temps were pushing 110! Let's just say it was hot.

First the Acropolis: It is amazing. My issue was the number of people and so hot. We were crowded worse than Dragoncon. It was claustrophobic. All in all the heat and crowds were a bit of a downer to the experience.

As you can see, it's a bit amazing. And we walked for MILES! I mean that literally. According to my watch I've walked over 65 miles. My feet attest to that.

So we walked around Athens, then took a day trip to Corinth and Sparta. Corinth had and amazing museum and temple to Apollo and a lot of attention to Ascelpius. All in all it was amazing. Here is me at the Temple of Apollo and a statue of Leonidas.

Then we went to the boat. It was amazing - but the heat and seasickness got to us a bit. So we got a hotel to spend the nights (AC is awesome). But because of that we fell in love with a tiny town called Methana. Seriously thinking of coming and spending a spring here. It is just amazing. Then there is the water, so blue and clear it seems unreal.

We snorkeled and walked and I just can't wait to go back. Today we are in Athens, the flight goes back tomorrow. My feet hurt, I'm exhausted, and I have loved this vacation.

I have so many ideas. I need to buy some books on Athena and Aphina. I just loved this. I hope you've had a great two weeks.

Weekly Micro Story

I Wish

The temple lay there in all its glory. The memory, the structure, the history, and all she could see was people everywhere: yelling, jostling, being tourists. The magic at being here never materialized. The disappointment washed through her, but she didn't let it show. 

The days of exploring led her to a small temple on the hills of an island to a minor goddess, and there she found the magic. The view, the temple, the power in the world that once was. She sat admiring the full moon rising in the early evening. Sitting there on a small stone with inscriptions worn smooth with time, she opened herself to the magic that once was. 

"I wish. I wish there was magic and gods in the world." It came from the heart of someone a bit too beaten down by the busy world, the demands of life in the 21st century, and the effort of being an adult. 

 "Interesting. It would mess up everything. How fun. Granted," a rich deep voice said. "Enjoy the magic."

Light exploded all around her and then her world went dark.

Yes, I want this as a series. I just need to figure out where it would go and who the story focused around as well as whose priestess she becomes. Hmmm.

Now back to enjoying my final day. See you back in the United States.
