Rocky Mountain High

imageNo, literally.

No I'm not on drugs, nor am I singing. Trust me I can't sing, even Happy Birthday is off key when I sing. This is why I have the radio up so loud. No instead I am leaving Colorado today and should be somewhere in the air when you get this.

I've been at a conference called Superstars of Writing all week and hopefully I'll be headed home with energy and determination. If I'm really lucky maybe I'll get to talk to Jim Butcher. Honest if that happens I'll probably gush about Aeronaut's Windlass and where is book 2?

Even if that doesn't happen I'm hoping to make friends and learn something. Always a good goal. That and no altitude sickness, also my goal.

On the writing front I'm doing. Slowly but I'm getting there. I'm thinking this book should be about 115k and I'm at 63k give or take. So it is moving just slower than I wanted. But I swear if Carelian doesn't quit saying things at the wrong time Jo is going to duct tape his muzzle closed.

I need to get back to writing, trying to be productive this weekend for both chores and writing. We will see how I do.

Until then, check out Jamie Davis. If you don't know his stuff already, you are missing out! He is a great guy, a former paramedic, and a kick-butt author. Books 1 and 2 of his Extreme Medical Services series are on sale. You really need to give these a try.

Extreme Medical Services -

Tops in his Paramedic Academy training.. ...didn't prepare him for Station U.

What was more dangerous, the supernaturals or his boss?

Dean needed to learn street medicine fast or this new world might get him killed.

Would it get him killed?

In the dark of night...a society few humans know, thrives.

And someone wants to bring them down.

Give it a try and get hooked like I was.

Someplace

Kris stared at the sky, the stars so bright it felt like magic. Too bad she wasn't. She was so tired of being scared. Scared of getting sick. Scared of getting someone else sick. Scared of the stories on the news. Scared of the looks and glares.

She'd rented this cabin for a getaway. On the way up lights and sirens flipped on behind her. Relieved to be on a moderately busy highway she pulled over, already trembling.

The cop walked up her window, and she made sure her hands were on the wheel. Shaking she looked up at him. He was huge, with a flushed red face, and a smile that had her thinking of all the horror stories she saw in the news.

"Ma'am, I just wanted to let you know your rear passenger tire is really low. You should pull into the next gas station and get it filled up."

"Oh," she muttered still expecting an attack. He smiled at her and went back to his car, then pulled away.

Someone was nice to her and all she could think was that she was going to be killed or shot for being herself.

Kris looked up at the sky. "I want to be someplace different. Someplace where I'm not scared."

A voice, so full of love and wonder, filled the sky. "And where would you like to be?"

"Someplace I can make a difference," she said after a minute.

"Then you are exactly where you should be."

So the short this week. It's meant more as a reminder to me that the only world I can change is this one. I take an image and write a story. Some of them are sweet, a few are horror, most are just snippets. This one, shrugs, this one is what it is.

Please remember to follow me on Bookbub and I should have some news here in the next month or so of new stuff.

See Ya!
